Where have I been?

Hello. Recently, as many of you may have noticed, my video output has dramatically slowed. I wanted to take a minute and let you know why that has been the case and what things look like for the near future.

First off, the biggest reason I haven’t been making videos is work. I have a few jobs that I do on a contract basis and the main one is concert lighting design and operation. Lately I have been out a whole lot due to travel for that job, running lights at events all over the country. It has been a very busy winter and I have not had much time off so there just hasn’t been time to make content. Luckily things are going to slow down a little over the next month before whatever craziness I’ll be in for during the summer starts. I have my first second weekend off since January this coming weekend so I will definitely be taking the time to get some things recorded and possibly write some things as well.

Also during the time where I could have recorded something I have had a huge amount of issues. Most of these issues are beta compatibility issues that are rapidly being sorted out however it has made things difficult when most of my planes have one problem or another. The good news on this front is that X-Plane 11 is rapidly nearing release candidate status and we should have a finished 11.0 version in the coming weeks.

All that said, here’s what things are going to look like over the near future.

First off, Prepar3d. While my channel is very definitely X-Plane focused I have nothing against P3D and it is a fantastic and mature platform that happens to have its own share of quirks, albeit different quirks than X-Plane. I want to be flying in P3D more in my videos simply because some of the absolute best addons available for flight sim are only available on FSX/P3D. I love the PMDG 777 and I really want to learn how to operate the FS Labs A320 and Concorde, so be on the look out for more videos featuring these aircraft. Once we have a 777 that is a lot closer to the PMDG 777 I’ll probably operate that more but as things currently stand I really do not like the Flight Factor 777 and will not be flying it without it getting a major update. This is not a knock on Flight Factor, just that specific outdated plane. Their 767 and 757v2 are fantastic.

Secondly, I’d like to be offering some more review content. I have been privileged to offer some sneak peaks of things in the past but I would really like to be offering some opinions on some of the addons that we are getting. I’d love to be taking a close look at various products as they are coming out so that maybe I help some of you make purchasing decisions. These addons can get very pricey and there is definitely never a trial or anything like that to get a chance to see if you will be happy with what you are getting. I am still trying to figure out what this will look like and what sort of testing I will do performance wise to be able to offer some figures on how things should behave on a given machine. If you have some products you would like to see reviewed or some ideas on what sort of performance information you would like to see please let me know in the comments here.

Over the next few weeks I should be getting back into the game and producing more content as I have time, and there will be times where I am too busy to do so, but I do want to try to minimize that as much as possible. As always, I really appreciate those of you who watch my videos and have subscribed and I always appreciate feedback whether positive or negative. Please let me know what you would like to see in the comments here or on YouTube, and I’ll see you soon.
